State reports rise in cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania Department of Health says there are increases in the number of reported cases of gonorrhea and chlamydia.
Although Pennsylvania's rate is below the national average, the number of new cases rose in 2007, the most recent year for which figures are available. The state said Wednesday that gonorrhea is up 10 percent and chlamydia up 7 percent.
Those infected with chlamydia may not show symptoms, so the state says regular testing is important.
