The Oct. 21 meeting will be at the Trinity United Methodist Church. This meeting will be a workshop on making cornhusk flowers with club member Jean Williams as instructor.

The public is invited to join the meeting, which meets the third Monday of every month. If you have any questions, contact Marcy Cunkelman, publicity chairwoman at (724) 459-7229.

Quota International

Members of Quota International of Indiana Pa. Inc. welcomed new member Melissa Campisano at their August meeting and had six guests join the group for the meeting. Guests were hosted by Barb Riley, Brenda DiCicco and Gina Lehman. Indiana Quotarians also welcomed Blairsville Quotarians Geri and Pat Bonarrigo.

President Amy Liboski updated the group on recent donations and events. Quota made a donation of underwear and 409 packages of notebook filler paper to the Back-to-School Bash; Quotarian Betsy Lauber organized two Quota teams for the Mid-Day Rotary Rally; Quotarians also came out to support the August Chamber After Hours event, hosted by the 700 Shop and member Gina Lehman, owner of Intimately Yours. Quotarians also approved Quota of Indiana to be a bronze sponsor of the YMCA’s Run for the Kids event.

The East Area meeting will be held Oct. 4 to 6 in Pittsburgh. Registration forms were distributed.

Meghan Foulk, District Three governor, updated the club on the latest news around the district.

Guest speaker was Aimee Kemp of ICCAP, who talked about the Power Pack Program, which sends food home on the weekends and holidays with children in the county. These elementary age children are part of the existing free or reduced lunch program. Club members expressed an interest in exploring the program further and the possibility of making it a districtwide project for the Spring 2014 District Conference in Indiana.

Upcoming events include the Youth Mentoring Committee Bowling Party for children in the Big Hearts, Little Hands program on Sept. 29 at Mohawk Lanes and the United Way Kick Off event on Sept. 26 (see Jenn Myers or Michelle Fryling for more information). A new member photo will be taken at the Sept. 25 meeting.

The Alice Paul House fundraising event will be Jan. 23 or 30, 2014, and the 2014 St. Patty’s Day event is set for March 21.
