Smicksburg United Methodist Women
The Smicksburg United Methodist Women met at 7 p.m. Sept. 11. There were 13 members, five youth and two guests present.
The devotions were a scripture reading. The program was a presentation by the granddaughter of one of the club members about her recent mission trip to Jamaica through Campus Crusade.
The minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were approved as read. The dishcloths ordered have arrived and will be for sale at the fall festival.
The annual fall festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 5. Club members will serve a lunch of homemade vegetable beef and chicken noodle soups, ham barbecues and hoagies, and homemade apple dumplings. Other baked goods will be available for purchase as well. Sign up sheets for volunteers are posted.
The president covered upcoming dates from “The Vine” publication. It will be posted for review.
Several club members may attend the annual District Fall UMW meeting. Therefore, the club has decided to give a monetary donation to the Ruth M. Smith Center that day since they are taking up a collection.
Members had election of officers for 2014. They remain the same as this year. The meeting was closed with the reading of the litany. After the prayer was a meal and door prizes were awarded.
