Blairsville Grange to meet for lunch

Former members and friends of the Blairsville Grange will gather for lunch at noon Tuesday at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, White Township. All are welcome.

NARFE to meet Wednesday

Members of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) organization will meet for their monthly luncheon at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, White Township on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Following lunch, the monthly meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.

The Indiana chapter officers will highlight relevant issues and pending legislation that may impact the active federal work force and retirees at the meeting.

All NARFE members of the Indiana Area Chapter 2124 are invited, as well as is anyone interested in learning more about the organization.

YMCA to hold Healthy Kids Day

The Indiana YMCA will hold Healthy Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27.

This free event, chock full of laughs, play and learning, will encourage kids and their parents to commit to keeping their body and mind active this summer. Healthy Kids Day will feature youth programs; the IUP mascot, Norm; a tour of a firetruck; a look inside an ambulance; an obstacle course; and more.

If your elementary school has the highest participation percentage in completing the obstacle course, each student will win a one-day Mack Park pool pass good for the 2013 season.

Senior driving classes offered

The next Seniors for Safe Driving classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 29 and 30 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20 and June 24 at Saint Andrew’s Village, White Township.

Seniors for Safe Driving is a highway safety education program, certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, for seniors 55 and older. The successful completion of the program makes senior drivers eligible for a 5 percent discount on their automobile insurance premiums, across the board, for a period of three years. Receiving this discount is mandated by Pennsylvania law.

Those who have never participated in the program before must attend a two-day class.
