Cousins announces bid for tax collector
Donna L. Cousins has announced she will be running on the Republican ticket for White Township tax collector.
Cousins resides along Ben Franklin Road with her husband, Chris, her son, Tyler, and their dog, Teddy.
Cousins acquired more than sufficient experience to handle the duties of tax collector and the ability to deal with people on many levels. She recently retired as a farm loan officer with the Farm Service Agency, USDA. She served the Department of Agriculture for 29 years, moving through the ranks from county loan clerk to an accomplished farm loan officer. She served farmers in six counties, including Indiana, from her Indiana office.
During her tenure with USDA, Cousins also served as president for the COC/COA Association and sat on various committees. Prior to working with the USDA, she worked at the Central Tax Bureau of Pennsylvania, in the Kittanning office, for two years.
Cousins co-owns and operates Cousins Self Storage in Indiana and Ford City and was a previous co-owner and secretary/treasurer of the Train Station Restaurant Inc.
She is an active member of St. Thomas More University Parish and serves on social ministry programs as a volunteer.
Cousins said she knows good recordkeeping proves vital to maintaining a well-managed office. In a press release, she said she promises her White Township neighbors that she will fulfill these duties to the best of her ability. She pledged to be there for them when they need her and supply them with good service.
Current tax collector John M. O’Keefe announced earlier that he is not seeking re-election.
