Donaldson seeking nomination
Barbara Donaldson has announced she is seeking the Republican nomination for Rayne Township tax collector.
She has been a lifelong resident of Rayne Township, where she spent the better part of her 30-year working career in the community. Along with having a strong community involvement in the school district, she has worked alongside her husband for the past 20 years owning and operating their local business, Hills of Home Farm Market. She said she has been instrumental in managing many successful departments within the business, along with all aspects of the daily operations.
Donaldson said that working directly with more than 13 employees and serving customers’ needs helps her deal with people on a multitude of levels.
Before working in the business, her employment included working as an Allegheny agency assistant for Horace Mann Insurance Co. in Indiana; a customer service representative for Koontz, George & Baird in Indiana; and as a secretary in the Marion Center Area School District at Canoe-Grant Elementary. She became certified as a paralegal in 1992 with extensive courses in business, real estate and family law.
A former Girl Scout leader in the community, she said her troop was involved with numerous elder care facilities, raised funds for the Alice Paul House and volunteered for local church projects. She has also been involved with the Marion Center Little League Softball program, Marion Center swim team boosters and the YMCA Piranhas swim team.
“I feel my central township location, extensive business experience and commitment to this community qualifies me to handle the duties of tax collector,” she said in a statement.
“As tax collector for the township, you can be assured that all transactions will be done professionally and with complete confidentiality.
“I am well aware that good record keeping proves vital to maintaining a well-managed office, which I have at my residence, and will be able to provide suitable hours for your convenience.”
Donaldson resides along Route 119 in Home with her husband, James, and daughter, Kimberli.
