The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will present a free program on FrogWatch USA at the Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center near Ford City on Feb. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.

FrogWatch USA is the flagship citizen science program of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums that invites people to learn about the wetlands in their communities and help conserve amphibians by reporting the calls of local frogs and toads. Frogs and toads play an important role in wetland ecosystems and are considered indicators of environmental health.

The free program is made possible by a grant from the Dominion Foundation. For more information or to register, log on to www.aswp.org or call (412) 963-6100. Registration is not necessary but would be helpful.

The Crooked Creek Environmental Learning Center is about five miles south of Ford City next to Crooked Creek Park. It is a multiuse facility operated under the auspices of the Armstrong Educational Trust and is available year-round to organized groups and business for environmental education, workshops, meetings or retreats. Additional information can be found at www.crookedcreekelc.org or by calling (724) 763-6316.
