ANNOUNCEMENTS

-- Midday Rotary Funding is available to fund projects that implement innovative ways of enhancing community and international volunteer service. The average award is $300. However, awards of up to $1,000 are granted. Award amounts are based on the merit of the project. Funded projects benefit the local and world community and reflect the mission of Indiana Midday Rotary. Projects also contribute within at least one of the avenues of Rotary Service. Organizations must complete an Indiana Midday Rotary 2013 Grant Application to be considered for funding. Please note: Indiana Midday Rotary will not fund personnel or general operating expenses. In some cases, specialized, sub-contracted services are funded. Organizations must demonstrate their not-for-profit or nonprofit status to be eligible for funding. Indiana Midday Rotary grant applications are due April 15. If you want an application or have questions about your organization’s eligibility to receive Indiana Midday Rotary funding, please email Brian Parks at bparks@presbyterianseniorliving.org.

-- The Alliance for Community Respite Care of UCP/CLASS, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging Office of Long-Term Living, announces the availability of a limited number of Lifespan Respite Mini-Grants. They are now accepting requests from family caregivers to receive up to $300 in a respite stipend. Families must meet criteria and eligibility requirements. CLASSES

-- Family Services: Providing Emergency Services teaches participants how to interview disaster victims and provide them with necessary emergency assistance. -- Lamaze Birth of the Family classes prepare parents for pregnancy changes, birth and parenting roles. Evening and day classes are available at IRMC. For information, call (724) 357-8088.

-- Ornish Advantage/Spectrum helps to prevent heart disease and improve health with a six-week program focusing on nutrition, stress management, exercise, nutrition and group support. For dates and times, call Excela Health at (877) 771-1234.

-- Preschool and Progressive Swim Classes are held in seven-week sessions at the Indiana County YMCA. Preschool is for children ages 6 months to 5 years, and progressive is for children 6 years and older. Enrollment is limited. (724) 463-9622.

-- Your Changing Body for Boys addresses the emotional and physical changes of puberty for boys ages 9 to 12 and their parents. The class meets quarterly. For more information, call Excela Health at (877) 771-1234.

-- Evergreen Boys and Girls Club is participating in the Ruby Tuesday Community GiveBack Program on Thursday. Grab your family and join them for a meal. Obtain a flyer from Evergreen Boys and Girls Club and present it to your server on these days. Ruby Tuesday will give back 20 percent of your purchase to the club. -- The American Cancer Society’s 25th Annual Cancer Survivors Conference, “Celebrating 25 Years Through Music, Laughter, and Courage,” will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Monroeville. -- Keep on Dropping is a free weight management support group to keep those who have lost weight recently motivated and are on track to continue to lose. -- C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, offers support services through an interactive website for bereavement and grief support literature at www.bowserfh.com.

-- Coping with Loss Grief Support Group is a six-week series held at various community locations. Call Excela Health at (877) 771-1234.

-- Curran Funeral Home Grief Support Group, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. Call (724) 639-3911 for dates, times and location.

-- GRASP, or Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing, offers support and sources of help for families and individuals who are in bereavement due to a substance misuse death. -- Graystone Church GriefShare is a 13-week seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them. Sessions are offered in the spring and the fall. Registration is not necessary, and participants may join at any time in the series.

-- Highmark Caring Place, through the Caring Foundation for Children, Pittsburgh, offers support groups weekly or biweekly for grieving children, adolescents and families. Call (888) 224-4673.

-- John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home offers a bereavement support group open to the public. Call (724) 463-4499.

-- Hopeful Hearts, a service of the VNA of Indiana County, is a child-focused family bereavement support center. Hopeful Hearts provides peer support at no cost for all family members when someone close to the family has died. Families meet biweekly in a safe, caring and confidential environment. -- Pregnancy Loss Support Group provides support for families who are grieving the loss of their baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death. Call (877) 771-1234.
