Park to hold nature, recreation programs
Keystone State Park will hold the following nature and recreation programs in the coming days.
DiscoverE picnic and awards ceremony, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
This event is for children who have attended this year’s DiscoverE programs at Keystone State Park. Family members are invited also. Register at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (724) 668-2566.
“Summer Blooms,” 10-11 a.m.
Warm and bright, exciting and new, summer brings surprises in pink, white and blue. Experience a bounty of blossoms in this flower hike. Meet at the visitor center and explore the flowery world of folklore, food and fun.
• “The Power of Plants,” 10:30-11 a.m.
Plants provide oxygen, food, fragrance, beauty and more. Join us for the Eyewitness Video Plant, a colorful tour of the world’s most dazzling flora, from the magical to the most bizarre. Watch buds burst and flowers bloom, and discover myriad ways plants struggle to survive.
• “Kayak Keystone,” 2-4 p.m.
Interested in learning how to kayak? Do you appreciate and want to protect nature? This fun-filled program includes basic kayaking instruction, conservation tips and paddling on Keystone Lake. Registration is required.
“Story Time by the Lake,” 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Meet for a nature tale at the amphitheater (on the camping side of the lake; park at the nearby visitor center).
Topics include feathered friends, batty bug zappers and spunky spiders.
