Members of  the Alliance of Student Athletes and the National Honor Society from Ligonier Valley High School assisted at the Winter Special Olympics held recently at Hidden Valley Resort.

Skiing students served as “buddies” for competing athletes, accompanying them throughout the day and making sure that they reported to the correct location for their events.

Other volunteers served lunch and assisted during the awards ceremony at the close of the day. The trip was organized by Margie Washnock, ASA sponsor, and Connor Maust, who serves as president of both organizations. Master Sgt. David Oates, ROTC instructor, chaperoned the event.

In the front row, from left, are Miranda Campbell, Katie DeMayo, Michaela Long, Jeannie Markosky, Jenna Collins and Matt Ryan; second row, Levi Gaynor, Ryan Torrance, Sam Maust, Billy Elliot, Phebe Cornell, Stephanie Heming, Jake Nemeth and Rachel Wallace; third row, Jonathan Finger, Connor Maust, Amanda Ross and Heather McCreery.
