Work to begin on Armstrong County bridge on March 25

on March 02, 2013 11:00 AM

Residents of Boggs Township as well as motorists using Route 28 will benefit by the safety improvement to realign the existing roadway and a new bridge carrying Route 28 over the North Fork of Pine Creek in Armstrong County.

The existing structurally deficient bridge, built in 1928, will be replaced with a concrete two-lane structure. The existing bridge carries approximately 6,500 vehicles per day. The roadway realignment will improve the roadway geometry in the area of the bridge.

Beginning March 25, daylight flagging operations will be in place until approximately mid-April to facilitate temporary widening for Phase 1. Once the widening is finished, normal traffic patterns will be maintained.

Work on this $6,372,028 safety improvement and bridge replacement project will be conducted by Plum Contracting of Greensburg, and is expected to be completed July 2014.
