Pick one store when couponing
Question: What is the best way to use coupons without going to numerous stores?
Answer: A common misconception about couponing is that you have to go to tons of different stores in order to get the best deals. Well, you don’t!
I don’t have time to go to numerous stores every week. In fact, with my busy schedule I may not make it to even one grocery store every week. So, how do I decide which store to visit? I look at my two favorite grocery store weekly deals either in the store’s circular or online at time2saveworkshops.com. I peruse the deals and pick the store that has the most items on sale that my family uses. This is a great method for getting the most bang for your coupon buck without burning tons of time and gas. Don’t stress out about getting every deal. If you choose one store, you are going to miss out on sales at other grocery stores. Remember, the sales will come along again; they always do. You can’t get every single sale every single week; if that is your goal, it will wear you down quickly and possibly cause you to give up couponing altogether. Much like crash diets don’t work for the long haul, extreme couponing doesn’t either.
Next, know the hot spots for deals and steals. Drugstores are fantastic places for getting great deals on household and personal items if you know how to work their system. Almost every week there are one or two items completely free at drugstores, and many times you get these deals without coupons. I tackle drugstore sales the same way I do grocery store sales: I look at sales and matchups on the blog and pick the drugstore that has the most items on sale that my family uses. Then, I gather my coupons and print the list of items I’m going to buy. When we are out sometime during the week, I run in and out of the store in less than five minutes.
Remember, you are in control of not getting overwhelmed with the idea of catching every deal.
Give yourself permission to not get every deal, and don’t feel obligated to go to every store. Once that is out of your mind, it takes off the pressure. Try it, and do the best you can.
