Trent Handler, of Indiana, has made the dean’s list for the spring semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga.

Ryan O’Dell

Ryan O’Dell, a graduate of Kiski High School, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.

O’Dell is a senior music major from Indiana.

Dean’s list students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.65 or above.

The following Clarion University students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester, having earned a QPA of 3.5 or higher.

University of Findlay Dean’s List

Christopher Lucas, of Indiana, and Michael Tighe, of Indiana, were named to the spring dean’s list at The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.

Katie Mack

Katie Mack, of Indiana, will enroll this fall semester at St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.

Irene Berman-Vaporis

Irene M. Berman-Vaporis, of Indiana, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. She graduated magna cum laude in May from Boston University.

Scott McKirgan

The University of Hartford has announced that Scott McKirgan, of Indiana, has been named to its dean’s list for spring semester at the University of Hartford in Hartford, Conn.

Juniata College Dean’s List

The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Juniata College in Huntingdon:

Indiana: Taylor Veronica Whetsel, daughter of Tracie P. Thompson and David A. Whetsel, a 2011 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School

Marion Center: Anna Pfeiffer Nycum, daughter of David A. Nycum and Mary P. Nycum, a 2012 graduate of Marion Center Area High School

Averie George

Averie A. George, of Homer City, recently participated in the May commencement at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va.

She graduated from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. She also earned a dual minor in communications and business administration.

George is a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization. She also participated in an internship with the Office of Sustainability on the WVU campus.

George is a 2010 graduate of Homer-Center High School and the daughter of Keith and Marjorie George, of Homer City.

Callie Haines

Callie Haines received a doctor of pharmacy degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy on June 8 at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, Bradenton, Fla.

Haines is the daughter of Paul and Robin Haines, of Indiana. She is a 2008 graduate of Indiana Area Senior High School. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years before attending Lake Erie.

Callie resides in Sarasota, Fla., and is a pharmacist for Walgreen’s.

Sara Argueta-Valle

Sara Argueta-Valle, daughter of Josef Argueta and Liza Valle, of Indiana, has been selected to participate in the Carnegie Mellon Institute for Talented Elementary and Secondary Students summer program for academically talented students.

Argueta-Valle recently attended the Math Olympiad class at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Argueta-Valle is a fourth-grader at Eisenhower Elementary School in the Indiana Area School District.

Mount Aloysius dean’s list

Kayla Marie Lydick and Ali Elizabeth O’Barto, both of Blairsville, recently earned dean’s list status at Mount Aloysius College for the spring semester.

Kristine Welch

Kristine Welch, of Indiana, earned a place on the dean’s honor roll at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., for the spring semester. She is a senior majoring in sociology.
