Area churches announce events

Turkey dinner

The Cochran’s Mill Church, 2571 Garretts Run Road (near the Burrell Township fire hall), will hold a turkey dinner beginning at 4 p.m. today.

The cost is $9 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children age 5 and younger. Takeout is available for 50 cents extra. Call (724) 842-2291 or (724) 354-2010 with questions.

Chicken and biscuit dinner

The Pine Grove Church of God, located on Route 240 between Uniontown and Cookport, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. today. The cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children from school age to 12. Preschool-aged children eat for free. Proceeds benefit the Pine Grove Church choir.

Roast beef dinner

MARION CENTER — A roast beef dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Marion Center Presbyterian Church. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger eat for free. Takeout is available at no extra cost. Proceeds benefit the church mission and maintenance funds.

Spaghetti dinners

RURAL VALLEY — A spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Rural Valley Fire Hall. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children younger than 8. Takeout will be available for an additional 50 cents.

Proceeds benefit the youth group of St. Paul Congregational Church, just off Margaret Road, and its mission trip to North Carolina in July.

The Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1470 Bethel Church Road, Indiana, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

The cost is $8 for adults and $3 for children ages 5 to 12. Children younger than 5 eat for free.

Tickets available in advance or at the door. Carryout is also available.

LEWISVILLE — Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Lewisville, will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $7 per person. Takeouts are available. Proceeds benefit the Youth Fund.

Mercy’s Vessel appearance

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — Mercy’s Vessel Music Ministry will be at the Independent Country Church, 2813 Tipperary Road, Northern Cambria, at 11 a.m. Sunday. Mercy’s Vessel is a Southern gospel singing group and ministry.

A fellowship meal will follow the service. All are welcome to attend.

Blessing of the bikes

BLAIRSVILLE — Blairsville Free Methodist Church and the Indiana County Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education are sponsoring the annual Blessing of the Bikes at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Blairsville Community Center, 101 E. North Lane, Blairsville.

Hymn and gospel sing

GIPSY — The Indiana/Cambria County Hymn and Gospel Sing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Gipsy Christian Church. Come to sing, come to listen. Everyone is welcome.

Learning about Faith

SAGAMORE — Learning about Faith will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiness Gospel Center, Sagamore. Teaching will be on how to receive from God, using your Faith in action.

Jewelry and fashion show

“A Lovely Affair,” a jewelry show, will be presented by Whatsoever Lovely Designs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex atrium, 711 Pratt Drive, White Township. A fashion show will be presented at 5:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. All jewelry is made locally, with proceeds benefiting the Victory Christian Assembly, 418 Church St., Indiana.

National Day of Prayer service

DERRY — A light supper will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Derry First United Methodist Church, 311 N. Ligonier St., Derry. The National Day of Prayer Service follows at 7 p.m. in Mossback Park, Derry. For more information, contact Teri Sauers at (724) 694-8333.

Men’s game plan

DAYTON — The All In Men’s Ministry of Christian Sports International will appear from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 3 at Dayton United Methodist Church.

There will be a life-challenging game plan for each man’s journey, “Men Locking Arms,” featuring speaker Leo Wisniewski and master of ceremonies Dennis Bowman. The cost is $20 with breakfast provided. Reservations are required. For more information or reservations, call (814) 257-8951.

Rummage and bake sale

FORD CITY — Cochran Mills United Methodist Church, Ford City, is sponsoring a rummage and bake sale at 9 a.m. May 3 at the Burrell Township Volunteer Fire Department, 108 Cochran Mills Road, Ford City.

Pennsylvania Deutsch buffet

PENN RUN — The Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run, will hold a Pennsylvania Deutsch chicken buffet from 4 to 7 p.m. May 3. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 3 to 11. Children younger than 3 eat for free.

The menu will feature chicken gravy with chunks of chicken, waffles, biscuits, noodles, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, two prepared salads, desserts and drinks. Call (724) 463-0420 for more information.

DIAMONDVILLE — The Diamondville United Methodist Ladies Goodwill Circle will hold a soup, sandwich and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 3 at the church. Everyone is welcome to eat in or take out.

Chicken holupki dinner

CLYMER — St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 465 Morris St., Clymer, will hold a chicken holupki dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 4 at the church. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12. Children younger than 4 eat for free. Takeout is available.

‘Gardener’s Paradise’ market

SAXONBURG — The third annual “Gardener’s Paradise” market to benefit a youth domestic mission trip will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., in Saxonburg. The event includes a pancake breakfast, plants, crafts and quilt displays.

The event benefits St. Luke’s ministry trip to Harrisburg, one of more than 70 communities served by Youth Works to help meet needs in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The pancake breakfast will run from 8 a.m. to noon in Centennial Hall, 110 State St. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children up to the age of 2.

Attendees can learn how to plant a container butterfly garden and how to freshen homes with dried herbs.

The following businesses are participating: Saxony Garden Center, The Stillroom, Stone Mill Greenhouse and Blue Goose Naturals. Additional information is available by calling the church office at (724) 352-2333.

Ladies’ lunch

DERRY — The monthly Ladies’ Lunch will be held from noon to 1 p.m. May 13 at Derry First United Methodist Church, 311 N. Ligonier St., Derry.

Gospel music festival

ARMAGH — The Armagh United Methodist Church, Armagh, will be holding a gospel music festival from 6 to 10 p.m. May 16 and from 1 to 10 p.m. May 17.

Scheduled to perform on May 16 are Randy Simpson, Dwayne Kaufman, 2 For 1, Amy Ward and Rachel, Brenda Misher and Diane Myers. The kitchen will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Scheduled to perform on May 17 are The Choraliers and Pearl, Heaven 4 Shore, Clowns for Christ, Randy Simpson, Dwayne Kaufman, The Michael Family, The Masters, United and New Journey. The kitchen is open from noon to 8 p.m.

The kitchen will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, haluski, stromboli, pizza, desserts, pop, water and more items.

Indoor yard sale

PENN RUN — The Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run, will be holding an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7.
