Area farm grows as it diversifies

The skyline around the Fabin Brothers Farm in Center Township frequently changes as the multi-generational agribusiness grows and puts up new grain storage silos and elevators.

The diversified farm is busy with soybean processing, crop production, cow and calf operations, and commodity buying and marketing.

Co-owner Rick Fabin said the farm’s soybean extruders are now processing 1.4 million bushels of soybeans annually.

The harvested soybeans are trucked to the plant from a 125-mile radius and after processing — much of them into high-protein livestock rations — are sent to markets within a 250-mile radius of the farm. (Tom Peel/Gazette photo)
