by on June 21, 2014 10:49 AM

Cyclists gathered near a ribbon-joining ceremony at River Edge Park in Saltsburg on Friday that marked the launch of the Trans Allegheny Trails, which consists of 13 existing rails-to-trails — including the Hoodlebug, Ghost Town, Blairsville Riverfront and West Penn trails — that have been combined to form a single, 134-mile system.

Bikers riding in from the left were on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail, and those on the right were from the Roaring Run Trail.

The Trans Allegheny Trails system is overseen by volunteer representatives from trail organizations. Trail-goers can find information, including maps, photos and more, at www.transalleghenytrails.com. (Tom Peel/Gazette photo)
