BLACK LICK — The Burrell Township board of supervisors Wednesday renewed an agreement with the Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate Unit 28 Drug & Alcohol Consortium for testing of employees who drive township trucks.

The cost of the testing is $250 for 2013, and the program helps the township meet federal Department of Transportation requirements, the supervisors said.

At their brief monthly business meeting, the supervisors also appointed Betty Cochran to a three-year term on the Burrell Township Library board of directors.

Helen Lichtenfels, treasurer of the library board, said the board has one remaining vacant seat.

Lichtenfels also reported the library will present programs Tuesday at Blairsville Elementary School to generate student interest in the library; in March, the library will offer computer classes, and on April 12, the library will host a fundraising spaghetti dinner and raffle a sandwich grill at Black Lick United Methodist Church.

Robert Palmer, of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Department, reported that the firefighters will resume their schedule of fundraising submarine sandwich sales on the first Saturday of each month beginning March 2, and sponsor a circus July 15 in Black Lick.

The fire department will distribute free tickets to admit children to the performances of Lewis & Clark Circus, of Greenville, S.C. Adult tickets will be $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Shows are set for 5 and 7:30 p.m.
