Two vehicles caught fire at virtually the same time Saturday evening in Indiana’s Third Ward.
Shown here, Indiana volunteer firefighters extinguished a blaze that destroyed a 2004 Buick Rendezvous SUV at 10 p.m. in a parking lot along Pratt Drive near the Hadley Union Building at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A few blocks away, Indiana Borough police officers were first to respond to a report of a fire at 9:58 p.m. in a Ford Focus parked on Fleming Avenue near Grant Street.
Fire Chief Charles R. Kelly said police broke a window of the car and used an extinguisher to snuff a fire that caused minor damage to a seat. Kelly did not identify the owners of the vehicles and said no one was injured.
