Druckses to speak

CHERRY TREE — Ron and Eileen Drucks will speak during the service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Stifflertown Church, Cherry Tree. All are welcome to bring a covered dish and have a morning of fellowship.

Chicken dinner

ROBINSON — The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the church fellowship hall, 332 Mary St., Robinson.

The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for ages 4 and younger. Takeouts are available.

Parish festival

CLYMER — The Church of the Resurrection second annual parish festival will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church, Third and Morris streets, Clymer.

Dinner begins at 11:30 a.m. and includes baked chicken or ham, macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes, broccoli Normandy or green beans, cornbread, rolls, salad and dessert. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger.

There will be a bounce house, games, 50/50, instants, festival food, refreshments, a Sheetz gas gift card raffle, a cake wheel, crafts, a basket raffle and more. Music will be provided by a DJ. A live radio broadcast will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on AM 1450 WDAD with Bill Otto spinning the prize wheel. Door prize tickets are available Saturday and Sunday after Mass and can be registered at the festival booth.

Hymn and gospel sing

ALVERDA — The Indiana/Cambria County Hymn and Gospel Sing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Alverda Faith Tabernacle. Come to sing, come to listen. Everyone is welcome.

Community service

BLAIRSVILLE — Churches of Blairsville come together at 6 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month to join in a time of worshipping God with musical praise. On Sunday, the United Presbyterian Church of Blairsville, 137 N. Walnut St., will host the service.

There will be congregational singing and special numbers. A time of light refreshments will follow. All are welcome.

Vacation Bible school

“Son Treasure Island” vacation Bible school will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at First Church of God, 541 Lutz School Road, White Township.

 “True Rescue Stories” vacation Bible school will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at Indiana Gospel Hall, corner of South Fifth and Locust streets, Indiana.

There is no cost, and all are welcome.

The speaker will be Bill Seale, of Indiana.

There will be games, crafts, prizes and more.

All participants will have a free picnic Aug. 16 at the YMCA and free swimming at Mack Park.

Women’s retreat

STOYSTOWN — The Camp Allegheny Women’s Retreat will be held Aug. 15 to 17 at the camp, 100 Camp Allegheny Drive, Stoystown.

Back-to-School Blowout

ARMAGH — The second annual Back-to-School Blowout will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Valley Grace Brethren Church, at Routes 56 and 22, Armagh. 

Teachers from the United School District, along with volunteers from the Women of Faith group of Valley Grace Brethren Church, have planned the event as a way to reach out to the children of the community and help them start the school year right. 

The three rules for this free event are: Children must be present to participate; children must be accompanied by an adult, regardless of age; and the event is not income-based. It is open to all school-age children. Christos Clothes Closet

HOMER CITY — Christos Clothes Closet at Homer City United Presbyterian Church, 40 E. Elm St., Homer City, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 16. Pig roast

PUNXSUTAWNEY — A pig roast will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Scotland Avenue Church of God, 1263 Scotland Ave. Extension, Punxsutawney.

Roasted by Roger Dinger, the dinner includes pork, stuffing, coleslaw, haluski, baked beans, corn on the cob, pasta salad, desert and drinks. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 10. Proceeds benefit the church’s Honduras mission project.

Chicken and holupki dinner

A chicken and holupki dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, corner of Tanoma Road and Route 286 East, Rayne Township.

The cost is $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for ages 4 and under. A fast takeout line is available. The public is welcome.

Movie night

KITTANNING — Harvest Community Church will hold “God’s NOT Dead” movie night at 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Kittanning Campus, 143 Reed Road.

The movie and refreshments are free.

Service in the park

KITTANNING — All three campuses of Harvest Community Church will join together for a church service in the Park at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at Kittanning Riverfront Park.

Preschool registration

DAYTON — Sunshine Preschool is now taking registration for fall semester classes. The preschool is held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the lower level of Dayton United Methodist Church.

Classes are open to children ages 3 to 5. Sunshine Preschool is a Christian-based school that provides a safe, secure and nurturing atmosphere where each child may grow emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually to develop a lifelong love for learning.

Singles retreat

Christian Singles Fellowship, of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, is offering a Retreat for Singles Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 at the Jumonville Camp and Retreat Center, Hopwood.

Fall Festival

DAYTON — The Dayton First Church of God will hold its Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 30 at the church, 1059 Route 839, Dayton.

ROBINSON — The Robinson Church of the Brethren will hold a Southern gospel music concert with CrossOver at 6 p.m. Sept. 21 at the church, High Street, Robinson.

Home party and craft vendors sought

PENN RUN — The Penn Run Christian Outreach Center will hold a Holiday Home and Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.

Home party vendors such as Mary Kay, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc., as well as crafters are needed for the show. Spaces range in cost from $10 to $20.

A silent auction and pie auction will also be held. Homemade soups and baked goods will also be available.

Vendors and crafters needed

CLARKSBURG — The Women’s Association at Trinity Presbyterian Church will hold a vendor and craft show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at the church, 18 Clarksburg Road, Clarksburg.

Vendors will be limited to one table per business. Crafters are welcome. Tables are $15 for the first one and $10 for each additional table. A $25 basket raffle item will also be requested. Tables and chairs will be provided for each vendor/crafter. The deadline to apply for space is Oct. 18.
