Defendants sentenced in Indiana County Court
Several defendants appeared before Indiana County judges William Martin and Gregory Olson for sanctions in recent session of the county courts:
n Clair Lewis, 50, of East Pike, White Township, was given six to 23 months in the county jail followed by two years of probation and was required to pay a fine and costs of $739.50 for one count of corruption of minors. In plea agreements with prosecutors, four counts of incest and nine other counts of corruption of minors were withdrawn.
n Roy Ramsden, 63, of Stuchell Road, Homer City, was sent to the Indiana County Jail for six to 12 months followed by six years of probation and was required to pay $747.50 in fines and court costs and $39,228.16 of restitution to the estate of Thomas Stuchell Jr. for a third-degree felony count of theft.
According to court records, state police charged Ramsden with taking more than $89,000 of funds from Stuchell's estate following his death on July 28, 2008. Ramsden had been granted power of attorney to manage Stuchell's affairs in November 2007.
In a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped three other counts of theft.
n Curtis Fairman, 30, of Jefferson Avenue, Homer City, was sentenced in two unrelated cases to serve three to 23 months in the county jail for theft and to serve two years of probation for receiving stolen property. Fairman also was assessed a total of $1,571.40 in fines, restitution and costs of prosecution and was granted immediate parole. In plea agreements, prosecutors dismissed charges of forgery, theft and receiving stolen property in the cases.
n Chrystal Oswalt, 29, of Locust Lane, Rochester Mills, was given four years of intermediate punishment including nine months on house arrest for theft and was given a concurrent term of two years on probation for a second count of theft. Oswalt was fined $1,000 and required to pay $100 restitution
n Christopher Yoder, 37, of Jody Drive, Penn Run, was given five years of intermediate punishment including 90 days in the county jail and six months of electronic-monitored house arrest and was told to pay $2,568.50 in fines and costs for driving under the influence.
n Robert Sinclair, 22, of Route 553, Mentcle, was removed from probation for a 2008 conviction for theft and was given two to 12 months in Indiana County Jail.
n Michael Powell Jr., 27, of Thundercloud Lane, Indiana, was placed on intermediate punishment for five years including 45 days in the county jail and 90 days of house arrest and was told to pay $2,362.50 in fines and court costs for DUI.
n Andrew Olink, 23, of Hawk Run, Clearfield County, was sent to the county jail for 72 hours to six months and was required to pay $2,534.51 in fines and costs of prosecution for DUI.
n Leslie Evans, 28, of Johnstown, was ordered to serve 48 hours to six months in Indiana County Jail and was required to pay $1,334.92 in fines and court costs for DUI.
n Richard Liming, 21, of Greensburg, was given 48 hours to six months in Indiana County Jail and was told to pay $1,048.50 in fines and court costs for DUI.
n John Cole, 44, of Luciusboro Road, Homer City, was placed on intermediate punishment for six months including 20 days of house arrest and was assessed $1,812.50 in fines and costs for DUI.
n Stephen Schneider, 31, of Eighth Street, Lucernemines, was given six moths of intermediate punishment including 10 days of house arrest and was told to pay $1,118.50 in fines and costs for DUI.
n Terry McKendrick Sr., 41, of Parkwood Road, West Lebanon, was fined $500 and placed on probation for two years for simple assault.
n Marvin Packer, 51, of North Sixth Street, Indiana, was placed on probation for one year for harassment.
n Douglas Bressler, 23, of East Indiana Street, Creekside, was fined $400 and was placed on six months of probation for possession of drugs. Bressler also was removed from probation without verdict for a 2008 charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and was given one year on probation.
n Steven Oswalt, 23, of Winding Lane, White Township, was removed from probation without verdict for charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in 2008 and was placed on one year of probation.
n Joshua Chew, 19, of Mahaffey, Clearfield County, was fined $300 for possession of drug paraphernalia.
n Joseph Lloyd Jr., 34, of Kauffman Road, Indiana, was given credit for unspecified time served in jail and was released after pleading guilty to resisting arrest, public drunkenness and possession of paraphernalia.
