Flash flood watch in effect for area

on May 15, 2014 7:31 AM

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the region through Friday morning.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with a slow moving cold front today and tonight could bring 1 to 2 inches of rain to some areas, forecasters say.

“Creeks and streams are already running high from previous rains and may quickly leave their banks with additional heavy rainfall,” according to the watch.

Weather officials urge the public to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flooding occur.
