Flooding forces road closures

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reported that two Indiana County roads were closed due to flooding as of around 10:30 a.m. today.

Market Street/Old William Penn Highway/Pine Ridge Road in Blairsville is closed in both directions from the Westmoreland County line to Market Street.

The road is closed due to rising waters of the Conemaugh River, and is not expected to reopen until Monday. Drivers should follow the detour using Market Street to Route 217 or Walnut street to Route 22.

North Point Drive in West Mahoning Township at North Point Road in both directions. That road also is expected to reopen Monday.

PennDOT also reminded motorists to drive cautiously and to avoid driving through standing water.

The rain is expected to turn to snow tonight and into tomorrow.
