Helicopters temporarily use Mack Park for landings

on October 31, 2013 10:50 AM

Life Flight medical emergency helicopters have been landing in the infield of the race track at the J.S. Mack Community Center while the helipad at nearby Indiana Regional Medical Center is enlarged and resurfaced as part of an expansion and construction project at the hospital.

The helicopters likely will be using the park as a temporary landing zone for another week or so. An Indiana Fire Association firetruck is on standby at the park during the landings and take-offs. (Tom Peel/Gazette photo)
