HOMER CITY: Board OKs two resignations

HOMER CITY -- Borough council accepted two letters of resignation at its brief regular meeting Wednesday.

With a quorum of four members, the resignations of part-time police officer Francis Plummer from the Homer City Police Department and Mayor Kenneth "Cal" Cecconi from the Homer-Center Parks and Recreation Board were accepted.

Cecconi's resignation is effective immediately; Plummer's was effective Dec. 18.

Cecconi said Plummer's resignation was a result of a conflict in work schedules that are beyond his control. No replacement is being sought at this time, he said.

The mayor said after the meeting that he is resigning after seven or eight years on the parks and recreation board because "it's too much for me right at this time in my life," adding that he has recently welcomed a new grandson to his family.

Cecconi said he enjoyed his time on the board and felt it was a "very rewarding experience."

He recommended that a council member, a Center Township supervisor or someone from the Homer-Center School District take his place on the board.

"I think it's very nice," he told council. "It would stop a lot of this lack of communication between the entities. I really believe it would be nice if somebody had the time to do it. I enjoyed my time on there."

Council agreed to hold that discussion at next month's meeting when a full council is present.
