Homer-Center celebrates reading

Administrators at Homer-Center Elementary School recently invited a variety of “celebrities” to read a favorite children’s story to students in grades kindergarten as part of the national Read the Most from Coast to Coast event.

Readers were Dr. Ed Meshanko, retired Homer-Center Elementary principal; Lou Sacco, chief of the Homer City Police Department; Homer-Center teachers Bonnie Craft and Bill Anderson; Wendy Smith, office manager of First Commonwealth Bank in Homer City; legislators Dave Reed and Don White; Dr. Charles Koren, superintendent; Susan McLoughlin, food service director; Beth Fabin, a parent of a student in the district; Jeanette Geary, coordinator of curriculum and special programs; Elizabeth Baran, a former school board member; Julie Rado, school board member; Michael Stofa, elementary principal; and Mrs. Sardone, owner of Flo’s Floral.
