Indiana County officials get doused
Add the Indiana County commissioners to the list of noted people around the nation who have been voluntarily drenched in the Ice Bucket Challenge, this summer’s craze to raise awareness of ALS.
Commission Chairman Rod Ruddock said he accepted the challenge from his 10-year-old granddaughter.
“I said if I’m going to do it, I’ll do it at the courthouse with my two colleagues with me.”
“Thanks, Rod!” Commissioner Mike Baker interjected.
As is customary, those accepting the ice water drenching get to pass the challenge on to someone else, and Ruddock, Baker and Commissioner Patricia Evanko challenged the county’s legislative team, state Sen. Don White and Rep. Sam Smith. Reps. Jeff Pyle and Dave Reed have already participated in the online soakings.
Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock also accepted the challenge and was doused with ice water Thursday morning. As president of the Pennsylvania Sheriffs Association, he then challenged the other 66 county sheriffs in the state to follow suit.
Obliging the commissioners Thursday afternoon in front of the courthouse were Deputy Sheriff Nick Stone, Fyock and Sgt. Chris Cusimano.
