Numerous defendants have been named in criminal charges filed before District Judge Guy Haberl in Indiana.

Criminal complaints and affidavits of probable cause are not evidence of guilt in a criminal case. Defendants are entitled to legal representation and have the right to question the witnesses and evidence presented against them during preliminary hearings in the district court and at trials in the county court of common pleas.

Charged were:

Janaya Stone, 22, of Cochranville, Chester County, charged Jan. 11 by Indiana Borough police with DUI and two summary driving infractions at 11:56 p.m. Dec. 13 in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street, following a traffic accident. Stone had a BAC of 0.144 percent, court papers show.

Stone waived her right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court.

Dylan Park, 20, of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, charged Jan. 11 by Indiana Borough police with DUI, underage drinking and a summary driving infraction at 10:32 a.m. Dec. 9 in the 700 block of South Street, following a traffic stop for driving the wrong direction on a one-way street. Park had a BAC of 0.054 percent, court papers show.

Park waived his right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court.

Dain Frantz, 28, and Evan Frantz, 26, both of Alder Road, Commodore, charged Jan. 18 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a controlled substance, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 12:43 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 800 block of Shryock Avenue, following a traffic stop for a faulty license plate and expired registration. Dain Frantz was also charged with DUI and five driving infractions. Dain Frantz had a BAC of 0.086 percent, court papers show.

Dain Frantz waived his right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court on the charges of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary driving infractions. The remaining charges were withdrawn. Evan Frantz waived his right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court on the possession of drug paraphernalia charge. His remaining charges were withdrawn.

Weylin Fratzke, 18, of Church Street, Indiana, charged Jan. 18 by IUP police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 10 p.m. Oct. 31 in the IUP parking garage, after officers observed suspicious behavior from Fratzke in a stairwell.

Fratzke waived his right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court.

Jessica Weber, 21, of Richmond Road, Rochester Mills, charged Jan. 22 by Indiana Borough police with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct at 9:39 p.m. Jan. 20 at 380 Philadelphia St. Police responded to a report of a female subject using drugs in the women’s restroom at the Sheetz store. Weber waived her right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court.

Toni Anderson, 50, of Chattanooga, Tenn., charged Jan. 17 by University Square Rentals with issuing a bad check for $2,300 Oct. 19 at 1163 Grant St. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 3.

Jason Broadbent, 28, of Philadelphia Street, Indiana, charged Jan. 22 by Indiana Borough police with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at 10:21 p.m. Dec. 14 in the 600 block of School Street, following a traffic stop for excessive speed and abrupt stops. Broadbent was a passenger in the vehicle.

Broadbent waived his right to a hearing and opted to face action in Indiana County Court.

Austin States, 18, of Starford Road, Clymer, and Nicholas Foreback, 18, of Adams Street, Clymer, charged Jan. 23 by IUP police with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 1:06 a.m. Jan. 19 in the IUP parking garage. Officers on patrol noticed a vehicle in a reserved space. While approaching, they noticed States and Foreback trying to hide inside the vehicle.

States and Foreback pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and were ordered to pay $662 each in fines and costs. Their drug paraphernalia charges were withdrawn.

Joseph Mastarone, 20, of Old Route 119 North, Indiana, charged Jan. 23 by IUP police with possession of a small amount of marijuana at 1:20 a.m. Jan. 20 in the 1000 block of Oakland Avenue, following a traffic stop for excessive speed and crossing the double-yellow line. Mastarone was a passenger in the vehicle.

Mastarone pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana and was ordered to pay $662 in fines and costs.

Cases Adjudicated

Theft of mislaid property charge against Becki Jo Stewart, 31, of New Florence, filed Jan. 16, was withdrawn Feb. 27.

Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges against Mahauije Mack, 18, of Philadelphia, filed Jan. 18, were withdrawn Mar
