Marion Center directors seek input on school security

on March 14, 2013 10:40 AM

The Marion Center Area School District directors will reserve the first 60 minutes of their monthly work session Monday as a time for open dialogue between citizens and the school district’s security advisers regarding the district’s security options.

Topics for discussion during the public comment period will include the possibility of placing armed security officers in the schools and a job description for such officers; development of a school security officer staffing model with considerations on the extent of coverage of school district buildings and property and the hours per day and the events that would have protection; and the minimum qualifications for applicants who may have local, county, state, federal or military police or security detail experience.

Monday’s board work session will begin at 7 p.m. in the McCreery Elementary School library.
