Members of the local chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War laid a cornerstone Saturday at the Silas Clark House in Indiana where they plan to erect a life-sized statue in honor of Indiana County’s 2,800 Civil War vets.

Pictured, from left, are Robert “Slim” Bowser, commander of John T. Crawford Camp #43; state Sen. Don White, the keynote speaker; and Eugene Decker, engineer-in-chief.
