Indiana Borough police have charged a 20-year-old man who currently resides in Indiana with raping a woman in her apartment on Feb. 11.
Police charged Malcom Machiridza, an Indiana University of Pennsylvania student from Harare, Zimbabwe, who lives at 360 Wallwork Hall, with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault on Feb. 12 in Clymer District Court before Magisterial District Judge George Thachik.
According to the charging documents, the two had attended an off-campus party and left together, returning to the woman's apartment at 1 a.m. The woman told police she initially had consensual intercourse with the suspect, but that he then forced himself on her sexually despite her frequent requests to stop, the documents say.
He is being held on a $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for March 22.
