Route 56 work under way

Work has begun on the surface improvement project on Route 56 in Armagh Borough and East Wheatfield, Brush Valley and Center townships, according to PennDOT.

Daytime flagging with temporary lane closures began Monday from the Route 56/Route 954 intersection to the Route 56/Shellbark Road intersection at United High School. Work includes milling, patching, asphalt paving and drainage repairs to extend the life of the roadway. These restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project during the daytime hours only.

This work will take place in East Wheatfield, Brush Valley and Center townships.

Nighttime flagging with temporary lane closures began Monday from the Route 56/Glenn Mack Road intersection to the Route 56/East Church Street intersection.

Work includes asphalt and concrete milling, bituminous patching and drainage repairs to extend the life of the roadway. These restrictions will be in place for the duration of the project during nighttime hours only.

This work will take place in East Wheatfield Township and Armagh Borough.
