Scout cookie sales under way

on January 04, 2014 10:49 AM

The sale of Girl Scout cookies began Friday in the Indiana area.

Girls from Troop 40858 have set a goal of collecting 5,000 boxes of cookies for Operation Sweet Appreciation.

Little Brownie Bakers ships cookies purchased for Operation Sweet Appreciation to military troops across the world.

Troop leader Melinda Shoenfelt said last year that Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania sent more than 30,000 boxes.

The girls in her troop have close friends or families that they know serving overseas at this time and thought this would be a great way to show their support to our troops.

Cookie sales orders run through Jan. 27.

Cookies will be delivered to the Scout troops on Feb. 18 at McNaughton Moving and Storage, with local booth sales following at various locations in the area. Cookies for Operation Sweet Appreciation can be purchased from any Girl Scout.
