Sheetz makes Christmas bright for children

by on December 14, 2013 10:59 AM

Sheetz employees lined up at the register Friday at Walmart in White Township to purchase Christmas presents through the “For the Kidz” initiative, which started in 1992 by two managers.

Since its beginning, the program has provided more than 69,000 with gifts. This year, Indiana County Sheetz stores granted 112 Christmas wishes.

Betsy Daugherty, of Blairsville Sheetz store #29, stood at the front of a line of Sheetz employees as Cathy Engler rang up items.

Packing the gifts, from left, are Michael Olechovski, of the Ben Franklin Sheetz, and Ryan Swaney, of Walmart.

Chief Photographer Tom Peel has been photographing events in the county since 1966. He started with the Gazette while in high school and then came on board full-time in 1969. So if you do something good, bad or just interesting, he will most likely be there to take your picture. Tom can be reached at tpeel@indianagazette.net or 724-465-5555 ext. 275.
