A sinkhole closed Route 1056 in Montgomery Township between Route 286 and Gipsy Road on Monday.

Workers from L.R. Kimball drilled around the hole, taking soil and rock samples to determine the extent of the damage.

Geological specialist Ray Suhadolnik, left, of PennDOT surveyed the hole while Mike Lute logged spoon samples.
