Smith announces grant for ICTC
The Indiana County Technology Center is in line to receive a state grant of nearly $25,000 to purchase equipment, according to an announcement by House Speaker Sam Smith, R-Punxsutawney.
The ICTC grant is part more than $100,000 in grant funding awarded to area vocational-technical education programs in Smith’s 66th Legislative District, which covers parts of Jefferson, Indiana and Armstrong counties.
“Good, up-to-date equipment is important to ensuring students are well-trained and ready to enter the job market,” Smith said in a news release.
“I was a strong advocate for including this grant funding in this year’s state budget. I have seen the success of these programs and believe this is an excellent investment of taxpayer dollars.”
Receiving grants are the following:
• ICTC, $24,713.60
• Brockway Area School District, $15,143.14
• Clarion-Limestone Area School District, $15,170.41
• Clearfield County Career and Technical Center, $21,332.59
• Jefferson County-DuBois Area Vocational Technical School (Jeff-Tech), $24,304.61
A total of $3 million in grant funding was made available to 180 vocational-technical programs in the state.
Half of this funding was split equally among all programs and the other half was awarded based on enrollment.
