Speaker to make case for Creation

Does God exist?

What was the origin of life?

How did we get different races if we all came from Adam and Eve?

If God is a god of love, why do so many people suffer?

Dr. Jonathan Sarfati will tackle those types of “big questions” during presentations in Indiana next week by Creation Ministries International.

Georgia-based Creation Ministries International is a para-church ministry that is nondenominational — it is really multidenominational, according to Sarfati — dedicated to defending the biblical interpretation of creation and life.

According to CMI promotional material for next weekend’s programs, Sarfati will expose “the bankruptcy of the evolutionary myth.”

“We feel the theory of evolution has serious weaknesses,” Sarfati said.

Evolution teaches there is no God, spiritual realm or afterlife. But, according to CMI, participants at the sessions will learn how the scientific evidence, when properly understood, confirms the details of the biblical account. The broad outline of history and the account of origins presented in the book of Genesis, especially, are relevant to all of reality, according to CMI.

Sarfati was born in Australia in 1964. He moved to New Zealand as a child and later studied science at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

He received a bachelor’s degree with honors in chemistry and a doctorate in physical chemistry from Victoria University of Wellington, He has co-authored papers in mainstream scientific journals including one on high-temperature superconductors published in “Nature” when he was 22.

Sarfati has been a Christian since 1984 and has long been interested in apologetics, the defense of the faith. He was a co-founder of the Wellington Christian Apologetics Society in New Zealand.

His first book, “Refuting Evolution,” was written to counter a teachers’ guidebook by the National Academy of Sciences, “Teaching about Evolution and the Nature of Science.” It now has more than 400,000 copies in print.

He later wrote “Refuting Evolution 2” and “Refuting Compromise,” both as responses to attacks on the biblical view of history.

He is the co-author of “Creation Answers Book and 15 Reasons to Take Genesis as History,” and in 2008 he finished “By Design: Evidence for Nature’s Intelligent Designer — the God of the Bible.”

He is co-editor of “Creation” magazine and also writes and reviews articles for the in-depth, peer-reviewed “Journal of Creation” as well as being active in creation evangelism and the speaking ministry.

He works full time for Creation Ministries International as an author, speaker, apologist and scientist.

Sarfati will present three programs in Indiana.

On Sunday, June 8, he will speak at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 100 Ben Franklin Road South. His topic at 9:30 a.m. will be “Six Days — Really?” and at 10:55 a.m. he will discuss “Design, Deluge & Dilemma.”

At 6:30 p.m. June 9, he will speak on “Christianity for Skeptics” at the KCAC’s Toretti Auditorium.

The presentations will include time for questions and answers.
