Students attend Keystone Girls State

Sarah Hefferin and Abigail Peace, both juniors at Saltsburg Middle-High School, have been selected by Saltsburg Unit 57 of the American Legion Auxiliary, to attend Keystone Girls State.

This “Experience in Government” was held June 22-28 at Shippensburg University and was the 69th session sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. About 200 girls are brought together through sponsorship of local auxiliary units and other organizations to study government on city, county and state levels.

During the week, the girls elected city, county and state officials, including governor, lieutenant governor, other officers and an outstanding citizen. Two senators will attend Girls Nation in the Washington, D.C., area this month.

Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hefferin, of Clarksburg.

She is active in the Honor Society, band, chorus, Remembering Adam, school musicals and National Philosophers Guild. She is also a member of the church choir, is a church altar server and is in the Girl Scouts.

Abigail is the daughter of Barbara Peace and Dr. Matthew Klain, of Clarksburg. She is active in Honor Society, Remembering Adam, marching band, varsity basketball, varsity softball and varsity volleyball. She is also a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Gordon 4-H Club and National Junior Swine Association.
