Bridge work continued on Route 119 North and South over East Pike in White Township.

Construction on a new single-span beam bridge began March 10 and will replace two structurally deficient bridges built in 1970. Weekend closures on East Pike continue with traffic detoured from Stormer Road to Geesey Road to Airport Road to Route 286 then back to Philadelphia Street.

The $3,213,013 project is being constructed by Plum Contracting Inc.

The bridges are expected to be open to traffic by the end of October with completion of work in the spring of 2015. (Tom Peel/Gazette photo)
