Upcoming church events scheduled

Antique show

The Bethel Missionary Society’s seventh annual antique show will be held until 5 p.m. today at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1470 Bethel Church Road, Center Township.

The show features childhood keepsakes and antique tractors and cars. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 10 to 17 and free for age 9 and under, accompanied by an adult. There will be live musical entertainment and a refreshment stand.

Roast beef dinner

ROBINSON — The Helping Hands of the Robinson Evangelical United Methodist Church will hold a roast beef dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the church fellowship hall, 332 Mary St., Robinson.

The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12, and free for ages 4 and younger. Takeouts are available.

Hymn and gospel sing

JOHNSTOWN — The Indiana/Cambria County Hymn and Gospel Sing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Chickaree Union Church, 476 Whitetail Road (Route 22), Johnstown. Come to sing, come to listen. Everyone is welcome.

Family Fun Day

Harvest Community Church will have a Family Fun Day from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Blue Spruce Park near Ernest. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. There will be games, fishing (bring gear), playground activities, hiking and fun for all ages.

Sunday concerts

ROBINSON — The Robinson Church of the Brethren will hold gospel and contemporary Christian music concerts at 6 p.m. Sundays at the church, High Street, Robinson. The schedule is as follows:

• Sunday, Contemporary Christian quartet, OneVoice, and the gospel duet Abraham’s Promise

• Sept. 21, Southern gospel music, CrossOver

Lutherlyn day camp

SAXONBURG — Lutherlyn Day Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday in Centennial Hall on the church grounds, 110 State St., Saxonburg.

Grades 1 through 5 will be accepted. There will be Bible study, games, nature activities, crafts, songs, puppets, stories, field trips, a campfire and more. A magician show will be held Thursday.

Before the official start of camp, there will be a family meet and greet at 7:30 p.m. Sunday with light refreshments. Registration is $55 for the first child and $40 for a sibling. Scholarships are available.

CPR class

KITTANNING — Harvest Community Church is offering a CPR training class from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kittanning campus, 143 Reed Road, Kittanning. Those attending will receive a free CPR kit. Register at www.harvestpa.org. Space is limited. Classes are open to all.

Fundraiser car wash

A fundraiser car wash for the Seeds of Faith Christian Academy’s class of 2015 will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 19 at Robert and Bev’s Truck Accessory Center, 1194 Wayne Ave., White Township.

There will also be a bake sale and hot dogs available for purchase.

Family Fun Day

There will be a free community Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 19 across from Rairigh Funeral Home in Hillsdale. The day is sponsored by Hillsdale Assembly of God. 

There will be various events, including a bounce house and children’s games, as well as free hot dogs, snow cones and cotton candy.

Chicken barbecue

The Hopewell Methodist Church is having its annual chicken barbecue July 19. Tickets are available for either 4:30 or 6 p.m. Eat in or take out. 

An adult meal consists of half a chicken, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert. The children’s meal is leg/thigh, baked potato, green beans, coleslaw, roll and dessert. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Ham and holupki dinner

A ham and holupki dinner will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 20 at Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, corner of Tanoma Road and Route 286, Rayne Township.

The cost is $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for ages 4 and younger. Takeouts are available. The public is welcome.

Chicken and halushki dinner

CLYMER — The annual grilled chicken and halushki (cabbage and homemade dumplings) dinner will begin at 11 a.m. July 26 in the parking lot at St. Anne’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 360 Franklin St., Clymer.

The dinner is takeout only and will continue until sold out. The cost is $10 per meal and includes vegetable, baked beans, roll and dessert. All are welcome.

Love Basket food drive

The Love Basket, a nonprofit, all volunteer emergency food assistance program for Indiana County, is holding a midyear church food drive to restock their shelves.

Area churches and individuals are invited to participate during the weekend of July 26 and 27 by collecting nonperishable food items or monetary donations.

Items may then be delivered between noon and 3 p.m. July 27 to the Love Basket Warehouse in the Robertshaw Building on the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus. Alternate arrangements can be made as necessary.

Outdoor concert

PENN RUN — An outdoor concert will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. July 27 in the picnic pavilion at the Penn Run Christian Outreach Center, 75 Grace Church Road, Penn Run.

The Masters will perform at 3 p.m. A free picnic supper will be held at 4:45 p.m. Faithful Friends will perform at 5:30 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Mega sports camp

Indiana Alliance Church will offer a mega sports camp from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 to 8 at the White Township Recreation Center, along East Pike, White Township.

The free camp is available for children age 4 through grade 6. There will be basketball, soccer and cheerleading. All skill levels are welcome. To register, call Stacy at (724) 388-2381.

Clothing drive

CHERRY TREE — A gently used school clothing donation drive is currently accepting donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Kinport Assembly of God, 5658 Route 240, between Uniontown and Cookport.

All donated clothing will be available during the Back to School Giveaway Aug. 9. School supplies will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 9. Registration begins at 9 a.m. No income information is taken. Children must be present and accompanied by an adult to receive new items and supplies.

Women’s retreat

STOYSTOWN — The Camp Allegheny Women’s Retreat will be held Aug. 15 to 17 at the camp, 100 Camp Allegheny Drive, Stoystown.

Back-to-School Blowout

ARMAGH — The second annual Back-to-School Blowout will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 16 at Valley Grace Brethren Church, at Routes 56 and 22, Armagh. 

Teachers from the United School District, along with volunteers from the Women of Faith group of Valley Grace Brethren Church, have planned the event as a way to reach out to the children of the community and help them start the school year right.

The three rules for this free event are: children must be present to participate; children must be accompanied by an adult, regardless of age; and the event is not income-based. It is open to all school-age children.

There will also be a bake sale, with proceeds going to help children in need throughout the school year.

Preschool registration

DAYTON — Sunshine Preschool is now taking registration for fall semester classes. The preschool is held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the lower level of Dayton United Methodist Church.

Classes are open to children ages 3 to 5. Sunshine Preschool is a Christian-based school that provides a safe, secure and nurturing atmosphere where each child may grow emotionally, socially, intellectually and spiritually to develop a lifelong love for learning.
