UPDATED SCHEDULE CHANGES!

Trick-or-treat activities have been postponed in several communities, and the League of Women Voters' Candidates Night has been rescheduled.

Indiana Borough police and Mayor George Hood announced this morning (Tuesday) that trick-or-treating has been postponed from Wednesday to 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday for Indiana Borough.


The Candidates Night debate sponsored by the League of Women Voters has been rescheduled for Thursday. See details here.


HOMER CITY – Borough officials have announced that Halloween activities have been postponed until the weekend for Homer City and for Center Township.

A parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Laundromat and proceed to the fire station. Trick-or-treating will follow from 6 to 8 p.m.


SHELOCTA – Designated trick-or-treating time has been delayed until the weekend, according to borough officials.

The hours have been postponed from Wednesday until Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m.


All schools in Indiana County are closed today.

The Evergreen Landfill is closed today and Waste Management Inc. will not collect trash on the Tuesday routes in Indiana County.

The Indiana County Court of Common Pleas, all four District Courts (Indiana, Blairsville, Homer City, Clymer), and all court-related offices including the Court Administrator, Prothonotary & Clerk of Courts, Probation, Domestic Relations, and Public Defender offices will be closed Tuesday.


The remaining offices of the Indiana County Court House and Annexes will be closed Tuesday, by order of the Indiana County Board of Commissioners.

Tuesday is the deadline to cast absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 General Election. Officials at the Indiana County voter registration office reported that any change in the deadline would be decided by the Department of State in Harrisburg.


The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has canceled an informational session regarding Amfire Mining Co.'s proposed Ainsley mine in South Mahoning and West Mahoning townships. The meeting, which was to have taken place at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Plumville, will be rescheduled.   


Several Halloween-related events for the week have been postponed in anticipation of the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

White Township: Due to the impending weather, trick-or-treat night in White Township has been postponed from Wednesday until 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3.

Indiana Mall: The Halloween parade scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday has been postponed and rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Clymer: The Halloween parade and trick-or-treat night beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday has been postponed and re-scheduled for Sunday. The parade will begin at 1:30, and trick-or-treat will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.


 


The Penns Manor and Purchase Line school districts canceled afternoon classes and dismissed students early Monday.


Indiana Borough: The 56th annual Kiwanis Halloween parade, set for 6 p.m. Monday, has been called off. It has not yet been rescheduled.



The Indiana County League of Women Voters has called off the Candidates Night debate scheduled for this evening at the Oak Place Community Center, 1055 Oak Street, Indiana.

League officials said efforts are underway to reschedule the forum later this week
