Work continues on car dealerships

Despite some challenging weather, work is on schedule for construction of new Subaru and Hyundai car dealerships off Route 286 in White Township, according to Jack Delaney, vice president of the Delaney Auto Group.

The dealerships are expected to be open by the end of the year, he said. When finished, each brand will have a separate showroom, about the same size as the adjacent Honda showroom which opened in April 2012 along Route 286 across from the Aldi Supermarket, and each will have a service and parts department.

Meanwhile, a renovation project at the company’s dealership along Water Street in Indiana, including an expansion of its body shop, should be finished by late summer, Delaney said.

Once the new dealerships open, plans are to move the Subaru franchise from the Water Street location, leaving only the Chevrolet and Buick lines. Delaney’s Hyundai currently is housed along Oakland Avenue in White Township, near Renaissance Circle.

At one time, the Delaneys considered also building a hotel on land near the new dealerships, but have since put the plans on hold to see first how developments in that market progress.
