HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: McLoughlin, Wildcats throttle Purchase Line
PURCHASE LINE — Homer-Center’s Stephen McLoughlin tossed a two-hitter, and the Wildcats posted season highs in runs and hits to rout Purchase Line, 16-1, in a Heritage Conference baseball game Monday.
The game was shortened to four innings due to the mercy rule.
The Wildcats amassed 18 hits, including nine extra-base hits.
McLoughlin struck out seven and walked none to earn the win. McLoughlin also went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs scored.
Ean Lee doubled twice, tripled and drove in four runs for the Wildcats. Darren Carr finished 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, Andrew Gaydosh singled, hit his first career home run and drove in four runs, and Jimmy Bence went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Losing pitcher Evan Ober struck out three and walked one in two innings.
Purchase Line plays host to Northern Cambria today. Homer-Center (3-7, 3-5 conference) travels to Northern Cambria on Wednesday.
