HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Marion Center rolls to victory

Marion Center maintained its perfect mark in Heritage Conference play, rolling past Penns Manor, 58-37, in a high school girls’ basketball game Saturday in Kenwood.

The Stingers improved to 5-0 in the conference and 8-2 overall.

Chantel Glasser scored a game-high 23 points to pace the Stingers, who won their second straight after a loss to Hazelton in Punxsutawney’s holiday tournament.

No other Marion Center player scored in double figures, but Kearsten Brocious had nine points, and Jenny Irvin, Karlie Snyder and Hanna Beer had eight each.

Sarah DaBella led the Comets with 13.

Marion Center visits Saltsburg on Wednesday, and Penns Manor (3-7, 1-4 conference) visits Northern Cambria on Tuesday.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA 39, PURCHASE LINE 32: Northern Cambria scored its first Heritage Conference win, edging host Purchase Line in a tight contest that was played Friday evening.

Katie Baum led the Colts with 11 points, and Taylor Strong added eight in the low-scoring affair.

Brooke Riva led Purchase Line with a game-high 13 points, and Jaycelyn Fleming scored six points.

Northern Cambria (3-5, 1-3) plays host to Penns Manor on Tuesday, and Purchase Line (1-9, 0-6) travels to Homer-Center on Wednesday.
