HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Homer-Center wins finale, set for playoffs

Homer-Center tuned up for the District 6 Class A playoffs and wrapped up the regular season with a convincing 60-38 win over Richland victory in a non-conference game in Richland Township on Friday night.

Kristina Albright scored a career-high 22 points and added five steals. Sydney Horel finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, and Alexis Leysock grabbed 11 boards.

Homer-Center (10-12), the No. 9 seed in the district playoffs, faces No. 8 Juniata Valley in a first-round game Monday at Altoona Field House.

PURCHASE LINE 45, NORTHERN CAMBRIA 35: Purchase Line came from behind to beat host Northern Cambria in a Heritage Conference game.

Allison Goodlin scored 10 points to lead the Red Dragons, who trailed 25-20 at the half. Purchase Line outscored the Colts 13-2 in the fourth quarter.

Jaycelyn Fleming pulled 13 rebounds, Brooke Riva made five steals and Brianna Riva added three steals for Purchase Line (5-15, 2-12).

Katie Baum and Allison Sedlock scored 12 points each for the Colts.

LIGONIER VALLEY 55, SALTSBURG 45: Ligonier Valley defeated host Saltsburg in a Heritage Conference game, the first of back-to-back meetings between the teams.

Taylor Rudnik and Jamie Wynn scored 12 points each to lead the Rams (11-10, 9-5). Rudnik dished out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.

Madison McLaughlin and Amanda Ross added 10 points each for Ligonier Valley.

Emilie Okopal made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points to lead Saltsburg (8-11, 6-7). Olivia Satler scored 13.

The teams meet at 5 p.m. today in a makeup game in Ligonier.

JOHNSTOWN 60, UNITED 26: United stumbled in a non-conference game in Johnstown.

McKenzee Miller scored eight points to lead the Lions. Jill Snyder grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Trojans got to the foul line frequently, making 32 of 41 free throws.

United (13-8) is the No. 4 seed in the District 6 Class A bracket and will face No. 5 Bishop Carroll in the first round. The Lions visit Penns Manor for a makeup game on Monday.
