HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: Indians sweep Burrell
LOWER BURRELL — Indiana swept Burrell in a WPIAL Section 4-AA swim meet Thursday. The Indiana boys won 93-78, and the girls won 95-68.
Logan Hess paced the Indiana boys (4-2, 2-0 section) by winning the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle. Hess also swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. The 200 medley team included Grant Hess Wei-Wei Wu and Ben Peng, and the 400 freestyle team included John Zarpentine, Joey Churner and Frank Bevevino. Grant Hess won the 200 individual medley, Churner posted a WPIAL qualifying time and took the 500 freestyle, and Wu won the 100 backstroke.
Sophie Manges won the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle to lead the Indiana girls (4-2, 2-0). Manges also swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams. The 200 medley team included Anna Manges, Gabby Bobak and Anna Paccapaniccia, and the 200 freestyle team included Paccapaniccia, Eliza O’Neal and Sarah Henderson. Paccapaniccia added wins in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, Anna Manges took the 100 backstroke, O’Neal won the 100 freestyle, Bobak placed first in the 200 individual medley, and O’Neal notched a WPIAL qualifying time in the 200 freestyle.
Indiana plays host to Derry on Thursday.
