HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: Tipton, Martin win multiple events to lead Apollo-Ridge teams

SPRING CHURCH — The Apollo-Ridge boys’ track and field team dominated the field events to sweep The Kiski School, 95-48, and Shady Side Academy, 82-68, in a triangular non-conference meet Tuesday.

The Apollo-Ridge girls’ team fell to Shady Side Academy, 94-55, in a non-conference meet.

Tre Tipton placed first in the 200, the high jump and the long jump for the Apollo-Ridge boys. Tipton also ran alongside Dillon Tones, Jonah Casella and Jesse Zelonka on the winning 400 relay team.

Christian Schulze won the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, Damon Blystone took the javelin, and Zelonka placed first in the discus.

Reannah Martin won the long jump and the pole vault to pace the Apollo-Ridge girls. Jackie Rearick took the discus, Megan Bonelli won the javelin, Rachel Sproat finished first in the 800, and Claire Broman placed first in the 100 hurdles. The Vikings also won the 1,600 relay. That relay team consisted of Elizabeth Gizzi, Broman, Fetterman and Gillian Tones.

Apollo-Ridge travels to Burrell on Thursday.
