HS SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Bobcats remain perfect

Blairsville banged out 17 hits en route to a 15-4 victory at Northern Cambria in a Heritage Conference girls’ softball game Tuesday afternoon, maintaining a perfect record entering today’s home game against Marion Center.

The Bobcats (12-0, 11-0) play host to Marion Center (11-3, 8-3) in a conference showdown this afternoon.

Emilie Okopal struck out seven and walked two in seven innings for the win.

Sam Harsh led Blairsville with three hits, including a double and a two-run home run. Mackenzie Livingston also had three hits, including a double. Abby Peace, Shelby Oswald and Jesse Harper had two hits each.

Ashley Farabaugh, Jenna Lecorchick and Megan Yuhas had two hits apiece for Northern Cambria.

 

LIGONIER VALLEY 3, MARION CENTER 0: Ligonier Valley scored twice in the first inning, and that was plenty of support for ace Hailey Umbaugh as the Rams rolled to victory in a Heritage Conference game in Marion Center.

Umbaugh struck out five, walked one and scattered six hits.

Heidi Peterson led Marion Center with two hits. Megan Risinger struck out three and walked one.

Courtney Frappier hit an RBI single in the first inning and later doubled for the Rams.

GREENSBURG SALEM 12, INDIANA 2: Indiana ran into a powerhouse Greensburg Salem team, taking the loss in a mercy-rule-shortened, six-inning WPIAL Class AAA non-section home game.

Indiana’s Kaitlyn Palmer had with two hits and two RBIs.

Greensburg Salem, the first-place team in Section 4-AAA, improved to 17-1.

 

HOMER-CENTER 11, PURCHASE LINE 10: Homer-Center scratched out an extra run in a high-scoring Heritage Conference game.

Bre Ruffner went 3-for-5 for Homer-Center.

Amanda Fetterman had three hits, including a double, for Purchase Line. Koren McCullough had four RBIs.

Abby Plowcha picked up the win.
