The Blairsville Colts finally slowed Apollo down in the fourth inning and started swinging their bats, plating the game’s last six runs, including three in the seventh, to earn an 8-7 win in an Indiana County League baseball game at One River Field.

The Colts trailed 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh before scoring three runs on two hits, two errors and a walk to seal the come-from-behind win. Cory Manarelli cracked a two-run single and then scored the game-winning run later in the inning on a throwing error from Apollo third baseman Caleb Kilgore.

“It was nice to see our guys respond like that. We could have easily given up early in the game but we kept chipping away and then the guys came through in the last inning,” Blairsville player-manager Joe Culler said.

Manarelli went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Craig Paouncic finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ben Doak singled and scored a pair of runs, and Dan Leonard doubled and drove in four runs.

Culler allowed no hits in one inning of relief to earn the win.

Phil Shallenger went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs for Apollo. Joel Gatti went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and John McGonigle singled twice. John Shaffer singled, doubled and drove in a run, and Josh Sasse singled and drove in two runs.

Blairsville (1-0) travels to West Lebanon on Tuesday.

WEST LEBANON 5, BOVARD 0: Ace Matt Rebyanski handcuffed Bovard and drove in four runs to power West Lebanon to a win at Bertolino Field.

Rebyanski belted a two-run double to put West Lebanon on the board first in the bottom of the third inning.

Rebyanski, who finished 4-for-4, cracked another two-run double in the fourth, stretching West Lebanon’s lead to 5-0.

Rebyanski fired a two-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.

West Lebanon (1-0) plays host to Blairsville on Tuesday.
