IUP ROUNDUP: Ullman earns preseason honor

IUP’s Brett Ullman has been selected by the Beyond Sports Network as an NCAA Division II Preseason All-American in football.

Ullman, a third-team selection, went 8-for-12 on field goal attempts, making three from outside 40 yards with a long of 48, last season. He was second on the team in scoring with 70 points.

The senior ranks second in school history in field goals with 37, third in extra points with 135 and fourth in points scored with 246. He holds the single-season record for field goals with 19.

IUP opens the season Sept. 6 at home against St. Augustine’s (N.C.).

SWIMMING: The IUP men’s swimming team has been honored by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as a winner of the conference’s team GPA award for 2013-14.

The awards are given at the end of the academic year to the team with the highest cumulative grade-point average in each of 22 sports.

IUP has won the award in all three years in which it has been presented. The team posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.098.
