Knapp sits third in Amateur

BUTLER — Indiana University of Pennsylvania alumnus Sean Knapp is in third place entering today’s final round of the 113th West Penn Amateur Championship.

Knapp fired rounds of 71 and 70 for a 141 on Monday at the Butler Country Club. He sits three strokes back of the leader, Joshua Stauffer, of Bradford.

Justin Cameron, of Punxsutawney, who recently won the Indiana Country Club Invitational, shot a 143, good for seventh place in a six-way tie that includes ICC Invitational regular Ronald DeNunzio, of Greensburg.

Zack Kempa, who recently finished his junior season at IUP, is tied for 13th, at 144, and Punxsutawney’s Frank Fairman is two strokes back, in 21st.

Sean Sweithelm, an Indiana native who recently concluded his golf career at IUP, and Easton Renwick, a Punxsutawney High School graduate, are tied for 32nd, at 149, just above the cut line.
